Majlis Ansarullah UK Pioneering Waqfe’Arzi Trip to Costa Rica – Nov 2025

By the Grace of Allah, Majlis Ansarullah UK had the blessed opportunity to undertake a pioneering Waqfe’Arzi trip to Costa Rica, a Central American country, to spread the message of Ahmadiyyat.

Under the leadership of Sadr Majlis MAUK Mirza Waqas Ahmad Sahib, Usman Ahmad Sahib (Qaid Tabligh MAUK) successfully sought permission from beloved Huzur (may Allah be his helper) and thereafter began the wheels of organising this historic trip.

The process began with requesting volunteers from the National Amila, then the Regions, and finally the Majalis. Twelve Ansar were selected to fly (via Canada) to Costa Rica, where they were met in San Jose by two Murabbian: Murabbi Silsila Marwan Gill Sahib (posted in Argentina) and Murabbi Silsila Arif Daud Sahib, who had only recently been posted to Costa Rica.

The travel, accommodation, and schedule for the six-day trip were planned in advance, and all Ansar were allocated specific responsibilities. Tabligh posters in Spanish were designed and printed in advance in the UK, and each Nasir carried approximately 8kg of tabligh material in their luggage.

WAQFE’ARZI – DAY 0

Mulaqaat with Huzur (aba) before departure

A mulaqaat with beloved Huzur (aba) was graciously accepted after Isha prayers on the day before the flight. This blessed meeting immensely inspired the group for their task and purpose ahead.

The group stood outside Mubarak Mosque after Isha prayers, all wearing special Costa Rican waistcoats that had just been issued. Usman Ahmad Sahib requested prayers from Huzur (aba) that Allah may enable the group to serve with humility and accept their service.

Huzur (aba) graciously replied,

“Allah Ta‘ala will bless you, InshaAllah.”

This marked the official beginning of their journey.

✈️ The Long Journey by Plane

One of the signs prophesied to herald the coming of the Promised Messiah (as) was the means of travel “in the belly of the donkey that eats fire.” This refers to the airplane.

Now, by that very means of travel, the message of the Promised Messiah (as) was being carried to a distant part of the Earth — to a country that had not previously been introduced to Ahmadiyyat.

The group travelled 7.5 hours to Montreal and then 5.5 hours more to San Jose, keeping their symbolic waistcoats on throughout the journey, representing the mission of peace.

🌅 WAQFE’ARZI – DAY 1 (Monday)

Morning Preparations

After arriving very late at night, the day began early with Fajr prayers, breakfast, and preparation for the day ahead, including final checks for the official meetings scheduled for the next day.

Two 7-seater vehicles were hired and driven by Ansar to transport members to various locations.

📜 Leafleting

Teams were formed for leafleting in central San Jose.

🕓 Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
📄 Leaflets distributed: ~3,500
🤝 Contacts made: Numerous meaningful discussions

Despite forecasts of rain at 11 AM, it began only around 3 PM, allowing five productive hours of distribution. Around 70% of people approached accepted a leaflet. Costa Ricans were found to be kind, respectful, and open to conversation, with only a few expressing disagreement.

The materials included Spanish-language tabligh content, all carried from the UK.

🏙️ Stalls

Two tabligh stalls were set up in different parts of the city centre. Many people were drawn to the image of the Promised Messiah (as) displayed on posters, leading to further interest and dialogue.

Murabbi Silsila Arif Daud Sahib, who had recently been posted to Costa Rica, joined the Ansar in the morning and actively assisted throughout the day.

🤝 Networking

Murabbi Silsila Marwan Gill Sahib, who had travelled from Argentina the previous night, coordinated several key meetings.

  • A meeting with the former First Lady was successfully held.
  • A lengthy discussion with a lawyer took place in a coffee shop and proved fruitful.

Both meetings provided promising contacts and valuable opportunities for future tabligh efforts in Costa Rica.

🌍 Reflections

This pioneering Waqfe’Arzi to Costa Rica marked the beginning of a new chapter for Majlis Ansarullah UK’s global service. Through prayers, dedication, and the guidance of Khilafat, the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat reached new hearts — fulfilling the blessed words of the Promised Messiah (as):

“I have been sent to spread the message of peace to the corners of the Earth.”
